Crystal Dynamics is hard at work on the Tomb Raider reboot (which hasn’t been seen since the impressive E3 2011 presentation), but that’s not all the Square Enix studio has in development. According to a blog post about the year ahead by Square Enix community manager Meagan Marie, Crystal Dynamics will “also be hard at work preparing to reveal exciting new intellectual property to the world”.

“2012 is going to be the biggest year in Crystal’s history,” said Crystal Dynamics studio head Darrell Gallagher. “We have a ton of great content lined up from our teams and we can’t wait to pull the wrapper off some of the amazing things we have been putting all of our efforts into.”

2012 is also the studio’s 20th anniversary, having produced hits including Gex, Pandemonium, Legacy of Kain, and Tomb Raider over the years.

While news of a new IP more or less rules out a direct sequel to the Soul Reaver games, it might not close the door on a Legacy of Kain spin-off. Fingers crossed.
