The latest issue of US magazine Game Informer is to include a first look at Cryptic Studios’ latest MMO, Champions Online

Described by the magazine as the developer’s latest “superhero MMO”, Champions Online looks likely to compete directly with NCsoft’s City of Heroes and City of Villains. Cryptic is the original developer of the Heroes/Villains MMO, which is now handled by an NCsoft studio formed by a group of former Cryptic employees.

Cryptic were at the helm of the canned Marvel Universe Online for Microsoft, which had been intended for release on PC and Xbox 360, and it’s not out of the question for Champions Online to be the very same Marvel MMO only with the Marvel license stripped away.

Expect lots more info soon.
