Crackdown 3 is in development and scheduled to release on Xbox One in 2016, an alleged Xbox insider has claimed.

The project is reported to be codenamed ‘Nimbus’, with Scottish company Cloudgine allegedly involved in the game’s development.

Cloudgine’s website states that it is “building the next generation multi-player Cloud Gaming experience, where all game logic and the rendering for individual clients is carried out in the Cloud.”

Sounds a lot like something Microsoft would be interested in to me.

Furthermore, Cloudgine was co-founded by David Jones, the creator of the original Crackdown and founder of the series previous developer Realtime Worlds.

Don’t expect a reveal any time soon, though. The alleged insider claims that it is “unlikely” the game will be revealed during this year’s E3.

Crackdown 3 has rumoured to be in development for a while, with an image of the Crackdown orb appearing during Microsoft’s Xbox One reveal.

Microsoft told VideoGamer.com that it does not comment on rumour and speculation when contacted about the leak this morning.
