Third-party game sellers are attempting to sell copies of Concord on PS5 for hundreds of dollars in a last-ditch attempt to make money on PlayStation’s recent failure.
Scalpers rush to sell Concord
Following the announcement that Concord will be shut down just a week after launch, online sellers are attempting to sell physical copies of the game as a “rare” release.
With only 25,000 copies of the game sold, and 15,000 on PS5, Concord could become a rare piece of physical media. However, with the game’s servers going down, the disc will become unplayable.
On websites like eBay, independent sellers and scalpers are attempting to sell the game high above market value.
One copy of the failed PS5 exclusive is listed at $179, described as a “SEALED MEME GAME”. Others listed at the same price describe the game as “Rare Recalled” and “Pulled from Shelves Rare.”
A collector’s item?
While the rush to sell Concord at a high price does seem hilarious following the game’s high-profile failure, these physical copies will become collector’s items.
With delisted games such as Godzilla PS4 selling for hundreds of dollars, Concord’s physical release will likely follow a similar fate. However, the difference is that physical copies of Concord will be entirely useless whereas Godzilla PS4 is an underrated banger.
Nevertheless, the modern collector’s market is a weird place. At the time of writing, sealed copies of Fortnite’s original release sell for hundreds despite being largely useless. Other live service games sometimes follow a similar route.
In the future, copies of Concord could sell for even more than they are right now, and the game’s Limited Edition DualSense controller could be an even rarer item. However, is it worth buying a copy of the PS5 game right now? Probably not.
