Sega and Relic Entertainment have offered fans another peek at upcoming WW2 RTS Company of Heroes 3 and its missions.

Following on from December’s look at the game’s overall campaign, this time we look at individual missions. The game’s mission designer, David Milne, speaks on the challenges of creating challenging missions for the game. That’s partially because of the new dynamic structure, that will see future parameters of missions change, depending on the player’s performance in prior ones.

Players may find themselves with certain types of troops or skills unlocked, which may be entirely different from someone else. This creates a bunch of challenges for the devs, including how the AI reacts. Obviously Relic want to make them feel organic, and still be fun to play against in the game.

Missions will range in scale and scope too. Examples given include a single squad of engineers sent behind enemy lines to recover and recrew a crashed tank. There’s also missions that’ll see if you can assassinate a high level officer and escape unscathed. Relic say they’re interested in telling these smaller scale stories that helped impact the bigger moments of the war.
