Konami has announced that the PES World Finals 2011 will take place in Cologne from August 17-19 – running alongside industry and consumer expo gamescom.

The World Finals are the culmination of the PES 2011 season and will bring the best PES players from around the world together to compete in a knock-out tournament. The event will feature competitors from Europe, Asia and America, with a gala party kicking off proceedings in Cologne’s KölnSky venue.

“gamescom welcomes thousands of ardent video game fans to Cologne, so it is a fitting venue for the end of the PES 2011 season,” offered Martin Schneider, general manager of Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “We expect competition to be fierce at this year’s competition – especially with the eyes of gamescom attendees on them all.”

Konami has been running PES competitions for more than 10 years, with each major territory across the world having official leagues which determine the World Final players. The 30 finalists will be competing on the PlayStation 3 version of PES 2011.

In our PES 2011 review we scored the game a 7/10. PES 2012 is due for release this autumn, and Konami has said it will turn heads.
