Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is almost upon us, but the new FPS game isn’t making things easy for PlayStation gamers. For fans of the series hoping to nab a platinum trophy in the game on PS5, you’re completely out of luck.

Continuing on from last year’s Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 doesn’t give players the opportunity to earn a platinum trophy.

Why doesn’t Black Ops 6 have a platinum trophy?

Just like Modern Warfare 3, Black Ops 6 has been added as a DLC for Modern Warfare 2 on PlayStation 5. Since the game is tied to the central Call of Duty HQ app, resulting in a physical copy that requires an internet connection to play its single-player campaign, the game’s trophies are trapped under Modern Warfare 2’s DLC menu.

However, on PlayStation 4, this is different. On the last-gen machine, a platinum trophy can be earned. This version of the game requires players to complete the campaign on Veteran, earn Prestige in multiplayer, finish Zombies maps and finish unique tasks in each mode.

To technically “earn” the platinum for the new CoD game, you’ll also have to earn every trophy for Modern Warfare 2. On Xbox, this isn’t an issue either as the game’s achievement list isn’t tied to the older game.

A disappointment, not a disaster

Of course, the lack of a platinum trophy for Black Ops 6 on PS5 is a dissapointment for trophy hunters worldwide. With players searching out games with quick platinum trophy runs, the new Call of Duty will still annoy some gamers.

However, with a game that’s constantly updated with new maps, weapons and more, the new Black Ops game lacking a trophy is far from a deal breaker. Most gamers spend hundreds of hours fighting through the latest CoD release, and this will be no different.
