Since its initial launch, Warzone 2 has quickly become one of the most successful entries in the CoD series to date. But even though its loyal player base consistently tunes in to each release, they’ve still often had plenty to say regarding its numerous glitches and lack of features.

This time around, a large number of users are complaining about Warzone 2’s lower skill ceiling compared to its predecessor. A recent Reddit thread made by one player goes into detail on why they think the latest battle royale iteration is easier than the previous one.
The poster has said that “the changes brought in with MW2 and Warzone 2 have massively lowered the skill ceiling” and that the main reason is because of the changes made to the game’s movement and aim assist mechanics.
They go on to state the following regarding these features: “Slide cancelling never should have been a thing and its good it’s gone, but nerfing slides to be completely useless in an aggressive context, removing the ability to sprint while plating, etc., have eliminated avenues of counter-play and handling situations where a player is outnumbered.”

They also mention that the enhancements made to aim assist not only puts keyboard and mouse players at a significant disadvantage but also lowers the skill threshold in the game. The player further notes that “this doesn’t make for a more tactical game.” “It just tilts the scales towards using traps, rotating early and holding positions in zone as the only consistently viable play style,” they state afterwards.
Various responses under the thread agree with the post creator’s sentiment, with one comment noting that the “ability to outplay enemies has been brought way down, which has indirectly brought everyone else up a skill bracket.”
Warzone 2 players are hoping that the developers make changes to these mechanics sooner rather than later. Based on CoD’s recent community responses, however, these comments may unfortunately be falling on deaf ears.
