Speaking to GamesRadar, Assassin’s Creed Origins director Ashraf Ismail said the upcoming game is the first in the series to allow the player to choose what difficulty they want to play on.

‘Some people play for the historic context, some people for the narrative, some for the gameplay, and what we felt was by going deeper into the gameplay challenge of the game we’re feeding one part of the audience, but not others so it was a natural step for us to think “well, let’s give difficulty settings”” Ismail explained before adding that you can change difficulty settings during the game at any stage.

He was, however, quick to state that the easy option doesn’t ‘turn off the combat,’ while switching to hard will see you encounter ‘more aggressive’ enemies. What you’d expect, basically.

Alice recently had the chance to play a couple of hours of Assassin’s Creed Origins at a recent preview event, so learn more about what you can expect in her feature, or check out her thoughts over top of some gameplay in the video below.
