Starfield is fast approaching, with the early access period just hours away. Like with any game, though, you can expect to pay a premium for it, especially if you’re wanting to get your hands on it early. The good news is that we’ve found a way to play the game earlier for cheaper than you would have thought, which we’ll go into below.
Remember, if you’re counting down the seconds until the Starfield launch make sure you’re keeping track of our Starfield release times map, which breaks down when Bethesda’s game unlocks in your region. Now, on to how to play Starfield cheaply.
How to play Starfield early for cheap
Now, it’s worth noting that there is no free trial right now for Game Pass, so if you’re going to want to play Starfield, you will have to pay. How much you pay though can vary. The cheapest way to play the game is to do the following:
- Purchase a Game Pass subscription – which will cost you £7.99 a month if you’re on PC and £8.99 if you’re on console
- Starfield is on the service, but to get early access you’ll need to upgrade to the Premium edition – which costs £34.99 but currently only costs £31.49
- That means you’ll be able to play the game for a total of £8.99 + £31.49 = £40.48
Bear in mind that the standard physical edition of the game costs around £69.99 from some retailers, which is the same price as the digital standard edition on the Xbox Store. The PC version comes in at £59,99 on Steam. And remember, you do not get early access with these editions. Compared to the above way, it works out nearly £20 more expensive if you were going for Steam, and around £30 more costly if you’re opting for a physical or standard edition of the game.
If you’re looking to play early, and not use the Game Pass method. you’ll need to fork out for the Digital Premium edition, which costs £99.99 / $99.99 in the US, or the out-of-this world priced Constellation Edition, which costs £249.99 and $299.99 in the US.
