Developer Headware Games and publisher Ratalaika Games have announced Chasing Static, a survival horror game inspired by classic PS1 and PS2 games in the same genre.

Set on a dark and stormy night in rural Wales, you’ll play as Chris Selwood. He’s searching for shelter from the elements in a roadside café. Suddenly a malevolent force pins the waitress to the ceiling before knocking him out. He comes round only to find the building in ruins and seemingly abandoned. Has he stepped through a time hole, or are there more sinister forces at play? It’s up to you to find out.

During the game, you’ll come across an experimental ‘Frequency Displacement Monitoring Device’ that picks up ghostly signals and allows you to tune them in. You’ll be using this device as you explore the area, uncovering secrets and listening to audio logs. You’ll also have to use the device to solve puzzles, and uncover new pieces of the story.

You can check out a trailer for the game—which was shown at this weekend’s Realms Deep event—below. Chasing Static is currently aiming for a “Q3 2021” release on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC.
