Capcom has reassured Street Fighter 2 fans who have experienced Xbox 360 crashes when trying to find ranked and player matches in the Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix open beta that it is doing everything it can to address this issue.

In a post on Capcom’s official blog, producer Rey Jimenez said that the system crashes, which we here in VideoGamer.com HQ have experienced for ourselves while searching for ranked and player matches, didn’t show up during testing.

“This is very perplexing because I can assure you all that this never occurred during testing or during certification,” he said. “We’re busy on tracking down the issue and will be evaluating our options at addressing it. While this is a beta and bugs are expected, we’re going to do everything we can to address this issue. Fortunately, this does not seem to be an issue that’s affecting everyone.”

Jimenez’s comments follow Capcom’s confirmation overnight that tweaks to playable beta character Ken’s Dragon Punch, which have been bemoaned by the game’s loyal fanbase as overpowered, have since been changed “so that the MP Shoryuken does not juggle like it does now”.

On the 360 crashes, Jimenez said that Tournament Mode, which sees up to eight players assemble online in a knock out competition, “seems to be working fine”, a claim borne out by our play tests.

He added: “Hope this doesn’t put a damper on you guys that have been waiting so eagerly to play, but the beta is working, in limited fashion…..more or less. Just want to make sure you guys know that WE ARE ON IT!”

Players who experience problems or bugs in the beta are urged to report it to beta.capcom.com. Fingers crossed all the problems will be ironed out before the game’s release this summer.
