Cannon Fodder for the PSP and is said to update the gameplay from the classic 16-bit originals. Codemasters promises fast-paced strategic action, combined with the series’ wicked sense of humour.

Players are required to take command of soldiers, either individually or in a group. The game will feature a diverse range of missions, including those on foot and in vehicles, but the overwhelming theme is blowing stuff up and causing havoc.

The new game builds on what has come before, adding a wealth of new features, such as calling air strikes, performing radar sweeps, and taking aim with a host of new weaponry such as flamethrowers and sniper rifles.

The game also has wireless support for up to four players, in deathmatch and co-op multiplayer modes.

There’s no firm release date just yet, but Codemasters has said it will arrive in spring 2007.
