Capcom’s Resident Evil 4 Remake is almost here, and gamers are more eager to start playing than a man with a sack on his head wielding a chainsaw wants to start removing Leon’s head from his neck.
With so much hype around the survival action title, understandably players are looking for ways to play the game as soon as possible.

Here’s everything we know.
Can I play Resident Evil 4 Remake early?
Officially, no. There’s no traditional early access program through purchase – either via the game’s special editions or a pre-order. As far as Capcom are concerned, you’ll have to wait until the game’s official release time to play.
However – intrepid gamers have found other ways to play the game early on certain formats by the classic method of adjusting the time zone, also known as ‘The New Zealand trick’.
We have to stress that this method is not recommended – we’re just answering the question if Resident Evil 4 can be played early, and there is a chance this could get your account suspended and access could be revoked at any time.
Also currently this method has only confirmed to work for the Xbox – at the time of writing, we’ve not seen evidence of PlayStation users getting it working.

If you’re not deterred though, you can head to your Xbox console’s settings, then All Settings and System – and change Language and Location to New Zealand. Once that’s done – restart your console, and if it’s worked the game should be available to play.
Bear in mind, that this method could also lock you out of any DLC – as Microsoft claim that all content can’t be transferred between regions. So again, plenty of warnings before you try this for yourself.
However, for those of us that can wait a few more hours – there’s not long to go now. The Resident Evil 4 Remake arrives tomorrow on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC. (But not on Xbox One)
