Dataminers have been hard at work digging around in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare PC beta files, and have found a list of over 55 maps for its multiplayer modes, with some sharing titles with popular maps from previous CoD games (via Game Rant).

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is one of the most anticipated games of the year, and although it claims to be a return to the serious elements of the series, there have been kooky additions to its multiplayer like a Tamagotchi that ‘feeds on kills’. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer is touted to be ‘the ultimate multiplayer playground’, with new night modes, 100 player matches, and the return of killstreaks. But, thanks to VG Sources dataminers, that might not be the only feature to returning to the new game.

They found a list of 2v2 Gunfight maps, and a few of these had been announced by Activision and Infinity Ward before, such as Docks, King, Pine, Speedball, and Stack. According to the files, there will also be maps called Cargo and Showers, and a night mode version of King. I assume Showers refers to rainy days and won’t have combatants speeding around a block of showers on a camping site. That would be hazardous.

And, an exhaustive list of maps available for general multiplayer was leaked, and seems to say that maps from previous Call of Duty games could return in amongst new maps that had not been officially confirmed by developer nor publisher. Shipment and Terminal are included, which share titles with the maps from Call of Duty 4 and Modern Warfare 2, respectively. These maps were incredibly popular back in the day, so their reappearance has instigated intrigue. These could be revamps of the previous maps, and would encourage those who were on the fence about 2019’s Modern Warfare to join the fray.

In addition, Sub Base and Rust from Modern Warfare 2 are counted among the other 43 maps in the leaked list. This must be taken with a pinch of salt, as Infinity Ward has not commented on the discovered maps, and it’s possible that these were contained within the files for beta testing purposes. However, assets for Rust have already been uncovered in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which could mean that Rust would be one of the first to arrive in game. Otherwise, it’s unconfirmed whether all these maps will be coming to the game, and when that would be.

But, players will be able to get a hint of what the campaign will be like by reading the ESRB rating description. Along with the standard ‘saving hostages, escaping/infiltrating war zones, and assaulting enemy compounds’ fare, there will be moments where the player will decide the fate of characters, with dialogue options and quick time events to save lives

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out on October 25 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
