A free-to-play battle royale mode might be in the works for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, the next entry into the enduring first-person shooter series.

Call of Duty YouTuber TheLongSensation posted on Twitter that the battle royale mode is planned to launch in early 2020. It seems that, although connected to the upcoming Modern Warfare, it wouldn’t be an update and instead would be a free-to-play standalone game.

TheLongSensation has made bold claims about the Call of Duty series before; he stated that next year’s game will be set during the Cold War with a campaign spanning two decades of historical conflict. But he was bang on with Call of Duty 2019’s title, predicting it would be a reimagining of Modern Warfare one week before it was officially announced

Whether his powers of perceptiveness have lapsed remains to be seen, but we’ll keep an eye out and an ear to the ground. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launches for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on October 25.
