Xbox One users who are unable to start playing their digitally downloaded copy of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare should delete the game and re-download it, Microsoft has said.
Issues with the pre-load were first reported last night, with some users reporting that the game had gotten stuck on certain percentages while installing, preventing them from playing the game. The issue is not believed to affect everybody.
“We’ve received reports that some users are having issues getting their pre-ordered copy of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare,” Microsoft wrote on its support site. “We’re happy to say that our team has fixed the problem, but if you are still experiencing any issues, delete the game and re-download it. Thanks for your patience while we got this issue worked out. Have fun!”
Some users are also reporting that a hard reset of the Xbox One may rectify the issue.
Nevertheless, Microsoft’s solution has led to understandable disappointment from fans who have no choice but to download the full 46GB again.
“Man I am extremely disappointed,” wrote one Reddit user. “It took me almost a whole day to download this the first time, and now its been an hour and it’s at 3%. Please fix this tonight I pre downloaded this specifically to not have to wait for it to download tonight.”
“Is Activison covering our data cap charges?” wrote another.
Being asked to download the full 46GB game again surely negates the point of being able to pre-load in the first place. Here’s hoping that Microsoft has learned from the problem for future digital releases.
