The Call of Duty franchise is constantly attempting to reinvent the wheel with the introduction of innovative mechanics. Ahead of Black Ops 6’s launch, the arrival of the new Omnimovement system has landed well among players looking for silky smooth ways to move around the battlefield.
Although the attention is firmly fixated on Treyarch’s latest offering, leaks surrounding 2025’s Call of Duty have already started to emerge. Initial rumblings suggest the developers are taking plenty of inspiration from games like Titanfall and Black Ops 3, moving back to the maligned advance movement mechanics.
Call of Duty 2025 leaks are already appearing
According to leaker @FumoLeaks, 2025’s release will feature the ability for players to perform wall jumps. Advanced movement was perfected with Black Ops 3 thanks to the smooth transitions from one wall to another in addition to the ability to ascend higher than a jump performed in a boots-on-the-ground game.
While games like Titanfall and Halo 5: Guardians praised for their more complex, frenetic movement, Call of Duty was once hated for its shift away from “boots-on-the-ground” combat, Black Ops 6’s new omnimovement system has seen a much better response this time around.
It’s not just Titanfall-esque wall jumps allegedly making a return in Call of Duty 2025. The leak also claims a number of classic Black Ops maps and multiplayer modes are on their way back for next year’s game. Insider Gaming reports a mixture of new and remastered maps will launch together, giving fans a huge amount of arenas to bounce off the walls.
The small wall jumps will be a step forward on Omnimovement making its debut in Black Ops 6. It may not be close to the exo-based movement in Advanced Warfare but it’s the closest Call of Duty has come to replicating it to create a huge skill gap between players.
2025’s release is reportedly a sequel to Black Ops 2 with a near-futuristic setting synonymous with Black Ops 3 and 4 in particular. The leaks claim David Mason is set to return as the lead character in the single-player campaign sparking another avenue for the story to head down.
The future is bright
If the leaks are accurate, Call of Duty 2025 is already in a promising place several months ahead of its usual Q4 release window. Black Ops 3 is regarded as the pinnacle of the Call of Duty franchise thanks to its fluid mechanics and map design and if anything can get close to the high bar set, fans are in for a potentially great run of releases.
Of course, you should take any leaks with a pinch of salt but with any intel on what Activision has in store a while away, Call of Duty’s future is certainly on the right path.
