Call of Duty is arguably the biggest video game franchise of all time. The series continues to be an annual release, which many fans have complained about in the past because of the AAA price combined with expensive premium editions. Fortunately, the next CoD sounds amazing, and Call of Duty 2024 could be free for millions of gamers from day one.

There is a lot to anticipate for the next CoD. Reportedly called Black Ops Gulf War, the reveal is imminent with exciting details leaked. The campaign is poised to be the best ever judging by all the leaks, and the multiplayer beta release window has possibly been unearthed, too.

As per series tradition, the game is expected to land in the fall. While it should still boast the typical AAA entry fee with more expensive premium editions available to buy for bonuses such as early access, there is also the likelihood that it will be free for millions of gamers by joining Xbox Game Pass.

Call of Duty 2024 Black Ops Gulf War could join Game Pass day one

There is the possibility that Call of Duty 2024 could be part of Xbox Game Pass from day one of its release. This hasn’t been confirmed by Activision or Microsoft, but Phil Spencer has previously implied.

Per an interview from Game File uploaded on February 20th, 2024, Microsoft boss, Phil Spencer, said “Our intent is the full portfolio of games from ZeniMax, Activision Blizzard and XGS—Xbox Game Studios—will be on Game Pass, day one,”.

While it’s true that existing Call of Duty games aren’t on Game Pass yet, this could be set to change in the near future. Diablo 4 joined Game Pass in March as the first Activision/Blizzard addition since Microsoft’s acquisition.

Per reliable leaker Tom Henderson reporting for Insider Gaming, ‘Xbox is gearing up for an announcement on its back catalog of games following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard’. This is implied for the Xbox showcase in June, and it’s believed that the announcement will involve past Call of Duty games joining Game Pass.

If Black Ops Gulf War does join Xbox Game Pass from day one, then it would be available at no extra cost for subscribers on both Xbox Series X/S consoles as well as PC. It’s also believed that the game will support last-gen meaning it will be playable on Xbox One.

Rumors currently suggest the game is set to launch in October. It has apparently been in development for four years, and the campaign is developed by Raven Software with Treyarch handling the multiplayer. And yes, there will be zombies.

For more CoD, several Call of Duty classics are now officially dead with servers taken offline.
