Burnout developer Criterion has always been rather hesitant to give a solid release date for its forthcoming Xbox 360 and PS3 title Burnout Paradise, but now it’s official. The game has been given a January 22, 2008 street date in the US. No UK date has been announced but we’d bet on January 25.

The end of January seems some way off, but Burnout fans will get a taste of the game in December, with Criterion announcing that a demo will be available for Xbox 360 and PS3 in December. Although only containing a fraction of the content included in the full game, the demo will let you sample the offline and online gameplay, and let you take a mugshot of your friends’ faces as you take them down.

We played the game at August’s Games Convention 2007 and came away very impressed. Look for more on the game in the months leading up to its release.
