We’ve known for some time that Burnout Paradise will be getting downloadable content in the form of car liveries and new roads to drive on, but we didn’t know how much this would all cost. Posting on Criterion Games’ forum, Criterion boss Alex Ward has revealed that the new islands will be free.

“And one more thing, the islands will all be FREE,” he said, sending the forum posters into an excited frenzy. The teasing doesn’t end there either. Speaking about the new car liveries Ward said: “I think we’ll make you work for some of these.”

What work we’ll have to do is unknown, but playing the game is surely better than spending money. Although news of the new islands being free is great, we’re still a little sceptical. We wonder if you’ll be able to do much other than drive around these new locations, with new events costing you some money.

We’ll just have to wait and see. For more on Burnout Paradise head over to our review from earlier in the year.
