People Can Fly, Epic Games and Electronic Arts have announced the Epic Edition of Bulletstorm for the Xbox 360. The special edition of the game comes with early access to the public beta of Gears of War 3.
“Epic is poised to break new ground in 2011 with Gears of War 3 and Bulletstorm,” said Dr. Michael Capps, president of Epic Games. “With these two highly anticipated triple-A experiences comes a unique opportunity to do something to really excite players, and that’s what we intend to accomplish with the support of Microsoft Game Studios and EA. This is for the shooter fans.”
If the early beta access isn’t enough to tempt you, then maybe the 25,000 experience points, visual upgrades for the leash, a deadly Peace Maker Carbine, boots and armour will get you excited.
The special edition arrives in the UK alongside the standard editions on February 25. No price has been announced. There’s no word on when the beta for Gears of War 3 will begin.
This is a clever move on Epic and Microsoft’s part, with both likely to benefit from the deal. Epic will almost certainly shift more copies of Bulletstorm thanks to this promotion, while Microsoft now has a reason for people to buy one of 2011’s first big games on the Xbox 360 instead of for a rival platform.
