Revolution Software’s Broken Sword series is set to make a return early next year as both a brand-new game in the series, Broken Sword – Parzival Stone and a “reforged” version of Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars is set to make its way to PC, consoles and mobile devices.

Broken Sword – Parzival’s Stone sees the return of series mainstays George and Nico, who find themselves stuck in the middle of a terrifying conspiracy involving Nazi treasure hunters, brutal medieval history and Quantum Physics. If you’ve perhaps never played a Broken Sword game before, the developers have reassured newcomers not to worry, as no prior experience with the Broken Sword series is required to enjoy Broken Sword – Parzival’s Stone. Parzival’s Stone is set to boast a ‘Super 2D’ environment “sculpted using 2D coloured background elements applied to 3D geometry to move in real time.”

However, before Parzival’s Stone’s release, a “reforged” version of George and Nico’s original adventure, Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars, will make its way to PC, consoles and mobile in early 2024. Speaking on the announcement, Founder and CEO of Revolution Software Charles Cecil noted, “This is the start of what we’re calling the ‘Broken Sword Renaissance’”.

He continued, “With both Parzival’s Stone and Shadow of the Templars: Reforged, we’re making a big, bold, and broad offer both to those who have walked in the shoes of George & Nico before and hunger for a new adventure, and also just as crucially people who have never even heard of the franchise.”

Cecil seems adamant about ensuring newcomers can enjoy the long-standing series with the latest entry. However, he also noted, “For those invested in the world we’ve created, there’s a lot to tap into under the surface”.
