Fans of visually striking arty video games look to be in or a treat when Bound, a new 3D platformer with a mature story, launches for PS4.

Bound is the latest title from Plastic Studios, the team with demoscene roots who previously brought us Linger In Shadows and Datura for PS3.

Game director MichaÅ‚ ‘bonzaj’ Staniszewski describes the game as follows: “Bound is a 3D platformer designed for people with the desire to concentrate on the narrative side of games and experience a mature story. On the other side of the spectrum, Bound is also being prepared for hardcore gamers looking for the challenge of one big puzzle that can be only solved by a community of players working together.”

Staniszewski says that Bound is both a “notgame” and a “game”, depending on how players wish to experience it.

The visuals are inspired by modern art movements such as Suprematism, Concretism and Neoplasticism. Everything is created procedurally with “ultra-sharp anti-aliased 60 Hz in 1080p resolution”. Staniszewski notes that the team has spent more than a year on optimisations in order to get the most out of the PS4.
