Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, a spiritual successor to Castlevania, will no longer launch for Wii U, creator producer Koji Igarashi has announced via the game’s Kickstarter blog.

The good news is that all backers who chose the Wii U edition have the option to change their pledge to the PC, PS4, Xbox One, Vita, or newly announced Nintendo Switch version.

“During our Kickstarter campaign, the Wii U was at the height of its popularity, but the situation has drastically changed after the release of Nintendo Switch,” wrote Igarashi.

“This change made it difficult to receive the necessary support from the hardware maker, which has led us to drop the Wii U development and shift the development to Nintendo Switch.

“We are very sorry that it has come to this after all your support, but we hope you will understand. We would like to respond by preparing options for our backers, such as moving your pledge to another version or requesting a refund if you don’t want any other version.”

All those who selected the Wii U version will see this automatically changed to Switch if no action is taken. However, you also have the option to choose any of the other editions, or request a refund.

To select another edition simply go back to your backer survey – click the “Change Your Survey Answers” link – and choose one of the other platform options.

If you’re seeking a refund you need to email [email protected] with the subject “Bloodstained Wii U refund.” Also include the e-mail address associated with your PayPal account.

Bloodstained is set to launch in 2018.
