After just releasing Silent Hill 2 Remake and announcing its upcoming new horror game Chronos: The New Dawn, Polish developer Bloober Team made hardcore horror gamers very happy with the reveal of its next game: a full remake of the original Silent Hill.

Announced alongside the brand-new multiplayer mode for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and the release date for this year’s Silent Hill F, the upcoming remake of the 1999 PS1 original seems like a dream come true.

Silent Hill 1 Remake scheduled for 2027

As it turns out, Bloober Team may have been working on the upcoming remake for longer than we would assume. While the game was announced with just a logo and some stock Adobe Premiere smoke effects, one leaker claims the project has been in the works for three years.

Dusk Golem, a leaker known for their insights into Resident Evil and Silent Hill, claims that development of the upcoming remake started three years ago. Golem, who has a very accurate track record, told fans that the project is set for release sometime in 2027.

However, Konami is planning to release a lot more content for fans to bring its horror franchise back into the spotlight. For example, the leaker explained that Bloober Team is still “cooking” its version of Born From A Wish, the bonus scenario from SH2, as a post-launch DLC. Resident Evil 4, Capcom’s last remake project, also did this for its Separate Ways story.

Additionally, Silent Hill Townfall, an anthology series of chapter-like horror stories, is still slated to release at some point in 2026. However, not much is known about the game at the time of writing. Finally, an original in-house SH game is expected to be released by Konami in 2028.

While many had their reservations regarding Bloober Team working on a game as nuanced and beloved as Silent Hill 2, the developer certainly knocked all expectations out of the park. While it’s not a complete replacement for the original, especially without the Born From A Wish scenario, the team released a phenomenal adaptation.

As for the original game, there’s a lot more space for more creativity in this remake. Yes, the original game is just as iconic as SH2, but there’s also a lot of room for story improvements and modernisation. Hopefully, Bloober team releases another brilliant horror game. This time, I have faith.
