The betting odds for this year’s GAME Award have been released and there’s no surprise to see Call of Duty: Black Ops as the favourite.

The GAME Award is being voted for by the public and the winner will be revealed at this month’s British Academy Video Game Awards.

While bookmaker Victor Chandler has Black Ops at 5/4 to take home the public choice award, Mass Effect 2 is close behind at 3/1, while Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption is slightly further back at 5/1.

VideoGamer.com’s Game of 2010, Heavy Rain, is a more outside bet, with odds of 9/1, while the universally loved Super Mario Galaxy 2 appears to have a marginally better chance with odds of 8/1.

The nominees and their odds are as follows:

Call of Duty: Black Ops – 5/4

Mass Effect 2 – 3/1

Red Dead Redemption – 5/1

Super Mario Galaxy 2 – 8/1

Heavy Rain – 9/1

FIFA 11 – 10/1

Halo: Reach – 12/1

Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit – 50/1

Limbo – 50/1

Dance Central – 50/1

“We’ve had over 90,000 votes for this year’s GAME Award, already beating last year’s total vote with still one week to go! The bookies have chosen their favourite for the title but don’t assume that one particular game will win as it’s up to gamers to crown their champion,” said Neil Ashurst, head of UK PR for GAME.

People can vote for their choice at www.baftagameaward.com – with voting closing at 5pm on March 14, 2011. The GAME British Academy Video Games Awards can also be streamed live at www.baftagameaward.com on March 16.
