Since the launch of Warzone in March 2020, Activision has often prioritised Call of Duty’s free battle royale game over the achievements of its paid annual releases. While Warzone has taken Call of Duty to new heights, fans of classic multiplayer have continued to share their frustrations with the lack of focus.
With the Season 2 update for Black Ops 6 moving into view, it appears the tide is turning while Raven Software attempts to implement numerous bug fixes and quality-of-life adjustments to stop Warzone from getting even worse. For the first time in a long time, Call of Duty’s multiplayer offering is getting plenty of attention.
Black Ops 6 multiplayer gets the attention in Season 2
Black Ops 6 multiplayer will receive three new maps when Season 2 launches alongside three weapons, a perk stolen from Modern Warfare 3, and much more.

While several players are happy that multiplayer is gaining the limelight over the battle royale, many believe the developers need to strike a balance across the Call of Duty universe so fans of all modes have their fair share of new content to experience when a new season releases.
As Warzone undergoes repair to address the game-breaking issues, Season 2 is the perfect opportunity for Black Ops 6 and its hugely popular Zombies mode to thrive. Alongside the new multiplayer content, The Tomb becomes the second post-launch Zombies map as the Dark Aether storyline enters its next chapter.
In addition to a new map for players to conquer the undead, they can get their hands on the iconic Staff of Ice Wonder Weapon which debuted in Black Ops 2’s Origins map.
Should Activision focus more on multiplayer?
The enhanced focus on multiplayer is a welcome change to Call of Duty after years of applying numerous updates to Warzone that sometimes fail to resonate with players loading into the action.
If Raven Software’s fixes work successfully alongside Black Ops 6’s new content, Season 2 has the potential to be one of the best post-launch updates since the franchise adopted the seasonal model.
