Call of Duty Black Ops 6 is a fantastic installment in the never-ending CoD series. The game’s campaign is excellent, and the multiplayer is a lot of fun as per usual. While it’s been out since October 25th, it is intertwining with Warzone come the arrival of Season 1. We don’t have too much longer to wait, but it’s already off to a rough start as the first revealed Black Ops 6 Season 1 Operator skin “looks really stupid”.
The release date for Black Ops 6 Season 1 is November 14th. This is when BO6 will replace Modern Warfare 3 by integrating with the Warzone battle royale. Before S1 arrives, a new update has just destroyed an OP movement mechanic, and, for those willing to buy a PS5 Pro, BO6 is included as part of the PS5 Pro enhanced games library.
We only have one more week to wait for Black Ops 6 Season 1 to arrive and, while details are light as of writing, the first Operator skin is not very impressive.
Black Ops 6 Season 1 Operator skin “looks really stupid”
The official Call of Duty X account has just revealed the release date for Season 1 along with the first upcoming Operator skin. Per the official announcement, Season 1 is coming on November 14th, and it includes a Sev Operator skin.
In addition to Sev, Season 1 is introducing a brand new Resurgence map called Area 99. This is obviously based on the real-life Area 52, and Activision has billed Area 99 as a “top-secret government weapons site located in the Nevada desert”.
Prior to Activision’s official announcement, the key art for Black Ops 6 Season 1 was leaked and shared on the game’s subreddit. It provides a first look at the Sev Operator skin, and it’s fair to say fans are not impressed.
Reacting to the Sev Operator skin on Reddit, many players agreed “This looks really stupid” with the accusation that it’s “just the type of skins the average Joe cod player loves”. There are even more unflattering comments such as it “looks like s**t” and it “Looks like some from the 2020s who works at Starbucks”.
The consensus reflected in the comments is that the skin doesn’t look thematically appropriate for a war game set in the 1990s. Many of the comments echo disappointment that Activision are not delivering “something more 90s,” and one comment even says it’s from the “Concord school of character design”.
While there are other comments about the allure of the skin, the most common consensus is that it’s not befitting of a war game in the 90s. This has resulted in more complaints about Warzone as there is a feeling within the community that silly Warzone skins are jeopardizing the tone of Call of Duty games.
There are comments such as “Warzone needs to f**k off” and “Warzone is a stain on the franchise”. Of course, this is only one skin, and hopefully others will be better and more thematically appropriate of the setting in Black Ops 6.
