Treyarch, the developer of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, has revealed the newest CoD release will lack some of the franchise’s most popular game modes. With some notable omissions from the series’ playlists on launch, some players may be disappointed at the latest BLOPS game’s lack of classic matches.

With only a few weeks until Black Ops 6 launches, the developer continues to reveal information on what the game has in store. It has already confirmed sweeping changes to a Zombies map alongside a wealth of exciting rewards on offer for completing the single-player campaign. Despite this, the lack of popular game modes is frustrating.

No Black Ops 6 party modes at launch

During the third episode of the Call of Duty podcast, Stephanie Snowden revealed that game modes such as Infected will not be available to play when the game launches on October 25. Instead, you’ll have to wait until “the Halloween window” before you can load into the action.

Snowden says: “The Treyarch team confirmed Infected will be coming to Black Ops 6 as part of spooky season shortly after launch.” Infected is arguably the most popular party mode in Call of Duty. A team of survivors attempts to outlast a team of infected which is tasked with eliminating the survivors to win the round.

It’s not just Infected that won’t arrive to Black Ops 6 when the servers are switched on. Treyarch has also revealed that other popular party modes will feature as part of the game’s post-launch seasons meaning you’ll have to wait even longer to play some One in the Chamber or Gun Game.

Thankfully, Gunfight is one of several game modes available at launch. The two-versus-two mode made its debut in 2019’s Modern Warfare and has become a staple of the franchise providing competitive, fast-paced action for duos to test their mettle against each other.

No party modes, no fun?

The lack of party modes when Black Ops 6 news is certainly disappointing if you’re looking for a more casual experience. The likes of Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Search and Destroy are bound to be packed full of players attempting to reach Prestige Master as quickly as possible, sending the often-divisive skill-based matchmaking algorithm into overdrive.

However, Halloween and the anticipated launch of Season 1 is on the horizon meaning fans won’t have to wait very long until they’re able to play Infected and other popular party modes the Black Ops series is famous for.
