The release of Black Ops 6 has resulted in a mass wave of cheating hitting the latest Call of Duty game. As cheating continues to ravage the game after the release of season one, the game’s Ricochet anti-cheat team is now performing “hourly sweeps” to combat new cheaters.
Black Ops 6 anti-cheat starts “hourly sweeps”
With the ban-hammer hitting more than 19,000 players in Season 1, even hitting the game’s “best player” for hacking, the Ricochet anti-cheat team has seemingly had enough. While Ricochet anti-cheat is constantly being improved, the mass advance of in-game hackers is also getting worse.
In a statement on Twitter, the team behind the anti-cheat explained that is now conducting “hourly sweeps to remove cheaters from the Ranked Play mode and leaderboard[s]”. The team is also continuing to improve its AI systems to detect cheaters before they’re able to get into a game.
However, fans of the online FPS series are still largely unphased by the Ricochet team’s promise. With years of the anti-cheat software being in place, cheating is still as big—if not bigger—than it’s ever been in CoD, and players are tired of promises.
“19K banned, 25K new accounts created,” one player joked in response to the anti-cheat announcement.
“This is the same answer/reason’s every year….. yet nothing changes,” said another.
Many fans have complained for years about the current Ricochet anti-cheat method with many worried about “shadowbans” that end up hitting legitimate players. While hackers will simply make a new account to troll others online, legit players accidentally caught up in anti-cheat sweeps are simply trapped behind their bans.
