The trend of leakers managing to unveil new content ahead of launch has skyrocketed in Call of Duty. Whether it’s for an upcoming Black Ops 6 season or early intel on the next instalment of Activision’s shooter series, those with insider knowledge often share news that ends up generating excitement for Activision’s popular FPS series.
With Season 1 in full swing and the launch of Ranked Play on the horizon, one notable leaker has called time on revealing details on upcoming updates following constant “death threats” from gamers.
Black Ops 6 leaker stops sharing intel
Prior to the launch of Black Ops 6, X user BobNetworkUK shared details on what Treyarch was working on several months before the servers were switched on in addition to announcing Verdansk’s return to Warzone. On November 19, 2024, the popular CoD insider announced they’re calling quits on leaking unreleased information.
“I don’t intend to return to leaking full-time,” the leaker revealed. “I’ve also closed my DMs. I’ve been getting death threats over obvious bait tweets and just the same stupid questions over and over.”
When confidential information makes it out into the open, Activision is quick to intervene to stop the leaks before the publisher and developer get a chance to showcase their hard work to the passionate fan base. With some fans taking things too far, it’s no surprise to see insiders stop revealing the intel for all to see.
Will Call of Duty leaks stop for good?
While Bob won’t be leaking Call of Duty intel for a while, there are still plenty of dataminers who sift through the files of the game to see what secrets they’re able to uncover before an update goes live. With Season 1 Reloaded including the arrival of the Citadelle Des Morts Zombies map, information on the next batch of Wonder Weapons is already appearing.
According to Zombies leaker alanthethird_90, the next Wonder Weapon is allegedly going to be the Umbral Blade in addition to the return of the iconic Wunderwaffe DG2 which made its debut in Call of Duty: World at War.
Of course, it’s important you take these leaks with a pinch of salt until Treyarch shares more as part of the build-up to the mid-season update. However, with strings relating to the Wonder Weapons appearing within the Black Ops 6 files already, there’s a strong chance there’s some legitimacy to them.
