Reports from Comic-Con last week suggested Mass Effect and Dragon Age developer BioWare was giving a helping hand in the development of the recently announced PC RPG Darkspore.

This turns out to be inaccurate.

An EA rep told GamePro that development of the game is being handled internally at Maxis, but the team is working with Malcolm Azania, a game writer whose credits include writing for BioWare’s Mass Effect 2.

“That’s the extent of it,” said the rep.

Darkspore is scheduled for release in February 2011.
