Helldivers 2 – How to create and link your PSN account to Steam

Sony and Arrowhead Game Studios recently announced that all Helldivers 2 players will require a PSN account to continue playing the game on PC. While this announcement won’t affect PS5 players since creating a PSN account is part of the process of setting up the console, many gamers who play exclusively on PC won’t have one, and most are understandably annoyed at being forced to create an account they don’t want to in order to keep playing the game. This will also affect many users where the PlayStation Network is unavailable, it is only available in 70 countries worldwide, which could cause millions of Helldivers to be unable to play the game when this is implemented later this month.

But, if you are one of the players within the countries it is available in, you will be required to create a PSN account from May 6th as a new player and May 30th as an existing player to keep playing Helldivers 2. If you don’t currently have a PSN account, here is how to create one without a console so you can continue bringing democracy.

How To Create A PSN Account Without Using A Console

With Sony implementing these new changes to Helldivers 2, many players will now be forced to create PSN accounts for the first time. Thankfully, it is very simple to do and you don’t need to own a PS4 or PS5 to create a PSN account. Follow these steps and you can create an account in just a few minutes.

• Go to the Account Management page on the PlayStation website and click Create Account.
• Select your country from the dropdown box and enter your date of birth on the next page.
• You will then need to verify your age by using either a mobile phone number or sending a picture of your ID.
• Enter the email address that you want your account to be associated with and verify it by clicking the link sent to the email address.
• Finish setting up your account with your username, profile picture, etc.
• Now you are ready to link your account to Steam to continue playing Helldivers 2.

How To Link Your PSN Account To Helldivers 2

Now that you’ve created your new PSN account, you are ready to link it to Helldivers 2. All new players will need to do this from May 6th, while existing owners of the game have until May 30th to do so. This next section can’t be done until May 6th, but once you are able to link your PSN account to Helldivers 2, follow these instructions.

• Upon loading the game you will see a QR code to scan as well as a link to log in to PSN.
• Log in through either of these methods to link your account.
• Serve Liber-tea.

With the community backlash this announcement has received, it is possible that Sony and Arrowhead Game Studios could revert this decision. However, this is likely something that Sony is looking to implement into more of its games so at least by creating the account now you will be able to quickly connect it to future games that require this. Other publishers such as Microsoft already require linked accounts to play its games, so Sony was bound to catch up eventually.
