BioWare’s recent statement that its upcoming MMO Star Wars: The Old Republic would last decades was a misquoted joke.

In an interview with VideoGamer.com, Daniel Erickson, writer for Star Wars: The Old Republic, said:

“That was James Ohlen and he was making a joke that got misquoted and misconstrued. Always watch what you say at a [convention]!”

During a recent Comic-Con panel Q&A, senior creative director James Ohlen said:

“Well, I can say that we have 19 major worlds. Then we have an indeterminate number of minor worlds.

“And our goal, obviously this being an online game, that we’re hoping is going to last for decades, we’re going to be, obviously, adding more to the galaxy map as the game progresses. We want to add dozens of worlds. Hundreds of worlds eventually. In 2025, we’ll hopefully have 500 worlds.”

EA previously confirmed The Old Republic will have 200+ hours of play per class, not including raids, crafting or multiplayer.
