After being informed that there would not be a BioShock special edition, fans over on the game’s official forums clubbed together to create an online petition in hope of persuading 2K Games to change its mind.
Eventually, 2K Games got word of the petition, with Elizabeth Tobey of 2K posting promising news over on the Cult of Rapture (BioShock’s official home).
“I’ve had quite a few people ask me if there will be a Bioshock collector’s edition. Then, today, an enterprising fan made a petition asking 2K to make one,” wrote Tobey. “So I talked with some people who were older and wiser than me, and pled the case of the fans. And if we get 5000 signatures on this petition, I have gotten word that they’ll make a limited edition of BioShock.“
The petition currently stands at more than 17,000 signatures so a special edition release looks to be on the cards.
We’re waiting to hear back from 2K Games for more on the special edition.
