The long-awaited sequel to the classic Beyond Good & Evil 2 is on its way. Despite Ubisoft’s declaration that the game would not be at E3 this year, it seems the joke is well and truly on us.

Taking place before the birth of the first game’s protagonist, Jade, Beyond Good & Evil 2 is ‘a vast and seamless online playground’ that you can play in by yourself or with friends.

Originally devised as a trilogy of games, it seemed that the Beyond Good & Evil 2 would never escape development purgatory. And yet, the gods have been looking kindly upon us.

As he announced the game, a clearly emotional Michel Ancel elicited the feeling that we’ve all had at some point along the way, and thanked Ubisoft and the fans for being so patient. What a way to close out the show! And yet, this is only a cinematic trailer, with no gameplay, so a full release is a ways off.

Currently there is no announced release date for Beyond Good and Evil 2, but once there is more to share you can be sure that we shall. At some point, though, you’ll be able to sign up for the Space Monkey Programme, which sounds like an early access or alpha programme.
