Beyond a Steel Sky gets new developer diary as the game slips by one week

Revolution Software and Microids have released the latest developer diary entry for upcoming adventure Beyond A Steel Sky.

The latest episode includes a chat with Broken Sword creator Charles Cecil, who is also the director of this game. He talks about making BASS engaging to those who played the original 1994 Beneath a Steel Sky while also not alienating those who hadn’t played the first entry.

“The way that we do this is that we make sure that all the core elements, all the vital lore, is brought through as part of the gameplay so that players experience it as they’re solving puzzles, as they’re driving the narrative forward.”

The events of Beyond A Steel Sky take place ten years after the events of the original. Union City has become a too-good-to-be-true utopia thanks to a mysterious AI. As part of your investigation, you’ll get to visit an in-game museum that will help fill in the lore gaps between the two games.

In addition, Revolution has noted a slight tweak to the release date of the game. Due to “global shipping delays” it will now launch a week later in the UK on most formats. The exception is the Nintendo Switch, where the digital version will still land on November 30 as planned.

Beyond a Steel Sky now lands on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One on December 7. The digital version of the game arrives on Nintendo Switch on November 30, with the physical version a week later.
