DICE has revealed that Battlefield V's battle royale mode, Firestorm, is being handled by Burnout developer Criterion Games.

The studio had previously revealed that it wasn't directly working on the battle royale mode, although at the time it didn't confirm who was. Still, at least now we know what's been keeping Criterion so busy lately, eh?

According to a post on Battlefield V's official website, Firestorm 'elevates battle royale by bringing in the best of what Battlefield is known for.'

As most people had already twigged, you're slugging it out in a warzone that has a ring of fire slowly closing in on your position, shrinking the battlefield in the process.

Battlefield's trademark destruction will also be a thing, with the map itself being the biggest the franchise has seen to date. Furthermore, Firestorm matches are directly tied to your Company, so that means you'll be able to continue to progress your Battlefield V experience while playing battle royale.

Firestorm will pack in various objectives to tackle, which DICE says will function similar to those found in Conquest. However, some will be encountered at random or in fixed locations, with multiple types of supplies, weapons, and vehicles up for grabs.

Speaking of vehicles, Firestorm will give you the chance to hop into a Panzer tank among others, although this won't be a free ticket to supremacy. There's a risk/reward element to piloting vehicles, so don't expect an easy ride.

Battlefield V is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on November 20.
