A new server update for Battlefield 3 will tweak the respawn times of Battlefield 3: Armored Kill’s gunship and introduce an option to remove the minimap in Hardcore mode, DICE has revealed.

During games of Rush, the gunship will now only respawn after the attackers have destroyed an M-COM station. DICE admits that the gunship had previously been “overpowered and spawning too fast”.

In addition, a 60 second spawn delay will apply to the gunship during games of Conquest, no matter the server spawn delay setting. DICE hopes that the changes will make it easier for the opposing team “to regain control of the flag controlling the gunship”.

The update is due to be implemented between 9:00-9:30am BST tomorrow, October 11. Battlefield 3’s multiplayer servers will be unavailable during this time.

The update applies to all formats of the game.

Other tweaks and fixes are also included in the update, including a crash fix, a knife takedown fix and improved server stability. For the full list, head over to Battlelog.
