DICE and EA have confirmed that Battlefield 2042 will be a part of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate tier with the launch of Season 3: Escalation.
The news came by way of a new Development Update video posted to the gameâs official YouTube channel, which also marked one year since the shooterâs original release.

In an accompanying blog, EA clarified that the game will be added to the EA Access catalogue, which is available separately or as a part of an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
That wonât be the only way players will be able to get their hands on the game for free though, as the team also promised thereâll be âfree access periods across all platformsâ for the game in December. More details of that will be revealed at a later date.
Meanwhile, Season 3 will also see a huge overhaul to the gameâs Specialist system, as DICE are reintroducing Classes to the game. That update is set to arrive in early 2023 in the latter half of the Season.
Season 3 is apparently set to arrive later this month, although EA has yet to nail down an exact date. It will, of course, be followed by Season 4 â but DICE has also confirmed plans beyond that too.
Further in the post, it says âWeâre also excited to share that weâve recently started pre-production on all new content that will come after Season 4, next year. Our work on Battlefield 2042 isnât done.â
It stayed coy on revealing more than that, but thereâll be plenty to look forward to in the meantime for Battlefield 2042 fans.
Season 3 of Battlefield 2042 will also include some new weapons, a new Specialist, a new Battle Pass and a new event. You can check out what arrived in Season Two over here.
