EA DICE has announced it’ll be revealing the new Hazard Zone mode for upcoming shooter Battlefield 2042 this Thursday.

A description attached to a trailer premiere the studio dropped today offers a breadcrumb of more information. Hazard Zone is described as “an all-new high-stakes multiplayer experience”. A teaser on Twitter uses the phrase “every squad for themselves” so we can infer it’ll be squad-based too. Aside from that though, details are still under wraps.

Some Battlefield data miners appear to have unearthed some extra details. Temporyal on Twitter claims it’ll be a mix between popular multiplayer games Escape from Tarkov and Crytek’s Hunt: Showdown. Though which maps will support the mode isn’t confirmed, the miners claim that at least Orbital is confirmed so far. Presumably we’ll learn more during the reveal itself.

The Orbital map, incidentally, was the one players got hands on with during the game’s recent Open Beta this past weekend. The game will also get a Battlefield Portal mode, allowing players to make custom gametypes using elements from across the series. You can check out the teaser trailer below, then come back for the Battlefield 2042 Hazard Mode reveal at 4pm UK time on Thursday, October 14.

Battlefield 2042 meanwhile, launches on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC on November 19.
