Baldur’s Gate 3 is officially a year old. Although it entered early access way back in 2020, the full release didn’t materalize until August 2023. Following its launch, BG3 went on to win game of the year and is adored by millions. It’s one of the greatest RPGs of all time, and Larian has shared more amusing Baldur’s Gate 3 player stats in celebration of its one year anniversary.

Although BG3 came out last year, it’s still one of the most exciting games of 2024 thanks to the highly-anticipated release of patch 7 and its mod toolkit. The RPG is still seeing 100,000 concurrent players on a daily basis on Steam, and we can only imagine the player count will increase even more once patch 7 is fully released in September. Not only will it launch the mod toolkit on PC, but it will also bring the ability to download mods on PS5 and Xbox.

We absolutely cannot wait to return to the world of Baldur’s Gate 3 once mods are out. There isn’t too much longer left to wait, and, for the time being, Larian has shared some new interesting player stats, including a widely unknown avoidable outcome for the Dark Urge.

New Baldur’s Gate 3 one year anniversary player stats

Larian has shared the following Baldur’s Gate 3 player stats in honor of the game’s one year anniversary:

  • 1.9 million players were turned into a cheese wheel
  • 3.5 million players paid a visit to some friendly dinosaurs
  • 2 million players freed Us from the Colony
  • At least 377,000 Dark Urges figured a way to spare Alfira and are now directly to blame for the proliferation of lute rock

The most surprising stat from all of the above is that you can actually spare Alfira as The Dark Urge. This is a widely unknown outcome as most have just accepted that her death was unavoidable as part of the Dark Urge storyline.

However, unbeknownst to millions as evidenced by the low figures, there is a way to spare Alfira. Per a guide shared on the game’s subreddit, you need to non-lethally knock her out before triggering her arrival at camp, and this will result in an NPC named Quill Grootslang taking her place.
