While Baldur’s Gate 3 is certainly the (deserved) darling of the moment, but players are hoping one of its few faults will soon be corrected thanks to a tweet from one its developers.
For some time now, players have decried the inability to change their character’s appearance once they’ve started the game, and now Larian’s director of publishing Michael Douse has responded to a fan’s pleas on just that topic. After a Twitter user begged for the ability to change how they look, Douse responded with “Things are being cooked.” And of course, fans on the game’s subreddit are thrilled with the news.
“Super glad they’re listening to fan requests/feedback,” says Saiaxzs, who adds that the acknowledgement “Makes me hopeful for a Karlach/Minthara redux/update”. Jokingly, ttv_yayamii adds “Ok, I understand why you would want it – it’s a nice feature to be able to change up your character, but why, then, did we collectively spend 88 years in character creation. Was it not to look as good as possible?” before clarifying “(I’m all for this addition btw)”.
There’s no word just yet on when this feature may be implemented, however, though Larian has teased that the game’s first full patch (outside of the recent hotfix updates) is on the way through its regular weekly community update. “We don’t publish our roadmaps because we need the freedom to push and pull things around when the unforeseen happens without locking ourselves in, but we want to let you know that it’s there and that we’re currently working towards Patch 1, which will feature a gigantic list of tweaks and changes. We’ll publish these once it’s finalised.”
Of course, the community has their own suggestions, including RVFVS117 who says “I just want to be able to change my facial hair and hair. Maybe tattoos and scars and stuff. I like there to be a sort of…progression with my characters. They look more and more badass as the game goes on.”
