A new trailer for Ubisoft’s Avatar Frontiers of Pandora game has been revealed at the June 2023 Ubisoft Forward show and it gave viewers a sneak peek at the war-torn landscape you’ll be navigating in a first-person point of view and the stunning environment you’ll be seeing throughout. But even more surprising than the beautiful locales that were shown was the appearance of James Cameron, the director of the Avatar film series, during the preview.

In addition to giving a brief, behind-the-scenes explanation of the production behind the game, Cameron also stated that Frontiers of Pandora will feature a completely new story that should excite fans of the film series. According to the latter part of the exhibit, the release date is currently slated for December 7, 2023 so you’ll have to wait until the latter part of the year before you can get your hands on it.

Later in the broadcast, Ubisoft would also give us even further detail with an overview trailer, and detailing what to expect from the game’s story. You’ll be playing as a Na’vi raised by the human RDA forces who’ve been taking over the planet, originally created with the intent of being used against your fellow kin. However, the base eventually comes under attack with the humans overthrown and during the ensuing chaos you’re liberated by your teacher, but cryogenically frozen to protect you as the base collapses around you. Fifteen years later, you awake to find yourself a stranger on your own planet.

Avatar Frontiers of Pandora is set for release on December 7 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
