Ubisoft has announced that Assassin's Creed Odyssey has officially wrapped development, or gone gold as industry folk like to say.

The upcoming stealth-action title arrives on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on October 5, so you won't have to wait long to get your hands on the epic Greek adventurer. The fact the game has hit gold status means there won't be any delays, either.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey follows up on last year's Origins, and further embraces the RPG mechanics that Ubisoft began flirting with in 2017.

This latest game features two playable characters in the shape of Alexios and Kassandra, and for the first time in the series there will be dialogue and romance options. Odyssey is also getting an extensive post-launch slate, including new story missions and a remastered Assassin's Creed III.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey is also coming to the Switch via the cloud, albeit only in Japan. It's also the last Assassin's Creed game for a while, with Ubisoft revealing it's skipping 2019 entirely.
