ARK Survival Ascended developer Studio Wildcard has revealed that their remastered project is once again being delayed and will now ship in October 2023 instead. Although a portion of the game’s fan base was predictably disappointed upon hearing the news, many fans are surprisingly taking it well enough as they see this as an opportunity for the developers to further improve upon their upcoming creation.

According to Studio Wildcard’s official announcement post, they’ve decided to postpone the release of ARK Survival Ascended because of their desire to push the Unreal Engine 5.2 technology “to the next level.” The added time will also apparently allow them to get in “the work needed to support a fully cross-platform-moddable game ecosystem on consoles and PC,” as the remaster is slated for release on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Windows platforms.

Based on most of the comments below the developer’s message, most fans are sharing the same positive sentiments as one responder noted that the “delay was honestly expected,” but they’d “rather have a functional game than a buggy one.” Another user then told the devs to “take their time,” after which they similarly said, “I’d rather [Studio Wildcard] delay it and make sure it works better than normal ARK than rush it out with a ton of bugs.”

Of course, this wasn’t the only piece of news that came with the statement as Studio Wildcard has also revealed that they’ll be releasing ARK Survival Ascended “at an early access price point of $44.99,” which is slightly less expensive than its original cost of $49.99. Those that decide to order the game near its release date will be able to save even more as there will apparently be a launch discount that brings it to $39.99.

It’s important to keep in mind, though, that the price reduction does come with a few strings attached as there may be less content that arrives on day one. Nevertheless, both the delay for more in-game improvements and the slightly reduced cost should come as good news to fans of the prehistoric survival entry so all that’s left to do now is wait for more developer announcements until ARK Survival Ascended’s release date rolls around.
