Electronic Arts has announced that the first season of Apex Legends, titled Wild Frontier, will go live at 5.00pm UK today.

The main attraction with Wild Frontier is a brand new Legend, named Octane. Described as an adrenaline junkie, Octane possesses mechanical legs having lost his real ones during a gauntlet speed-run. He's able to trade health for speed thanks to his Adrenaline Junkie ability, while the Launch Pad Ultimate Ability lets his squad 'fly through the air with the greatest of ease.'

Apex Legends players can also snap up the Battle Pass, which offers 100 unique rewards including the Lifeline revolutionary skin, Wraith survivor skin, and Mirage outlaw skin for those who purchase it right away.

It functions in a similar manner to Fortnite in that you'll advance up the tiers, unlocking new rewards in the process. If you splash out on 2800 Apex Coins, you can reach level 25 off the bat, while the base rate is set at 950 Apex Coins.

Apex Legends launched in February on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One, and notched up a whopping 50 million players in just one month. The game leaked a year ago, although at the time everyone laughed it off. Doh!
