Nintendo has today announced the December 2008 release of Animal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City, the Wii exclusive life simulation previously known as Animal Crossing: City Folk.

The latest instalment in the hugely popular series not only allows players to create their own perfect life in the country, but also introduces a new city area to explore. The game will also support the new Wii Speak accessory which enables voice chat amongst the game’s players.

The new city environment introduces a new area with shops and entertainment opportunities. Players need only jump on the bus from their town and take a trip to the theatre or visit Gracie Grace, a large and exclusive department store that sells special items and furniture to customise their home.

Using Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection players will be able to send friends letters and items from the post office located in each town. It will also be possible to travel to a friend’s town and explore their unique Animal Crossing environment.

Nintendo has also confirmed that players of Animal Crossing: Wild World on Nintendo DS will be able to transfer character data to the new Wii game. The DS can also be used as a ‘suitcase’ allowing players to take their character to and from a friend’s Wii console.

Animal Crossing: Let’s Go to the City will launch across Europe this December.
