Players are already discovering some subtle Easter Eggs in Modern Warfare 2 – but one has got them particularly excited, and it involves a potential map for the upcoming Warzone 2.

Minor potential spoilers ahead – but gamers have unearthed what at first glance is an innocuous map found on a table in the game’s campaign.

However, according to prominent Call of Duty leaker The Ghost of Hope – the map actually points to a future Battle Royale location.

Minor spoilers ahead – but in the game, you fight against a drug cartel known as Las Almas Cartel – named after the fictional region.

It’s this region, in fact, that Hope claims will “100%” be a future map in the battle royale shooter. It’s easy to miss mind, as Hope says they didn’t even come across this themselves.

We know it won’t be the map available at launch, however, as that will be Al Mazrah – but it could well be a map set to arrive at some point next year.

Al Mazrah appears to be something of a ‘greatest hits’ mashup of maps from the original Modern Warfare 2, but of course with new parts filled in so that they feel like a cohesive island.

However – as was the case with Warzone 1, it’s expected the follow up will eventually get several maps as the seasons tick by. For example, last year the game introduced a new Pacific map that tied in with the release of Vanguard.

This should be taken with a pinch of salt – of course – as plans could change; and given the previous maps were in circulation for at least a year – it could well be a while before we get confirmation.

Elsewhere, on the Amsterdam level, you can find a sign for Burger Town which nods to the iconic Wolverines Mission in the original 2009 game, while there are also sports shirts emblazoned with Verdanask Sparks on them in a nearby sports shop.

Warzone 2.0 is set to arrive on November 16, 2022.
